Summerland Giant Pumpkin & Watermelon Festival
See You in Kyogle: Festival Day & a New Shirt Launch
We’re heading to Kyogle for one of the Northern Rivers’ most loved summer events — the Summerland Giant Pumpkin & Watermelon Festival, held on Saturday 17 January.
Running from 8am to 3pm along Stratheden Street, the festival is a full-day celebration of local growers, makers, creativity, and community spirit. It’s best known for its giant pumpkin and watermelon weigh-ins, but the day offers much more than oversized produce.
Visitors can expect:
• Giant pumpkin and watermelon competitions
• Farmers, makers and craft market stalls
• Food vendors, ice cream and local treats
• Live entertainment and family-friendly activities
• Fun competitions like watermelon eating and gumboot throwing
It’s the kind of event where serious growing meets light-hearted fun — a relaxed, welcoming festival that reflects the character of the Kyogle community.
We’re excited to be part of the Summerland Giant Pumpkin & Watermelon Festival — and launching the Superb Fairy-wren shirt.
Events like this are exactly why we love getting out to regional festivals. They bring together creativity, craftsmanship, and people who value things that are thoughtfully made.
We’re excited to be part of the festival and to officially launch our new Superb Fairy-wren shirt, the latest release in our four-design wren series.
Each shirt in the series is designed around a circular disc motif, symbolising the environment or habitat each wren species occupies in Australia. The Superb Fairy-wren design focuses on contrast, movement, and presence — capturing the energy of this much-loved bird through a strong but wearable textile design.
What we’re bringing to our stall
Alongside the launch of the Superb Fairy-wren shirt, we’ll have a full range of Dom N 8 Design pieces available on the day.
At our stall you’ll find:
• Ladies’, men’s and children’s apparel
• Our signature printed cotton shirts
• A selection of accessories and gift items
• Our much-loved embroidered caps
• The chance to see fabrics, prints and details up close
Why festivals like this matter to us
The Summerland Giant Pumpkin & Watermelon Festival celebrates the same values that underpin our work — patience, skill, experimentation, and pride in what you make. Whether it’s growing a record-breaking pumpkin or developing a textile design, there’s a shared appreciation for craft and care.
